What Causes Post Nasal Drip And Heaving?

Yesterday I woke up with so much sinus drainage that I was dry heaving. I was very stuffed up with a dry nose. Today I am experiencing a headache, sinus congestion as well as a runny nose and sneezing and continual drainage. My stomach hurts and I am really tired. Usually this turns into me being really clogged up and being treated with antibiotics and then I feel better. Do I see a doctor or wait it out? I am miserable.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to sinusitis.

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses.

The treatment depends on the cause.

If it is a bacterial infection usually antibiotics are prescribed to treat the infection.

Meanwhile, I recommend you to take an anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.

I also recommend using a saline nasal spray for local relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
