What Causes Posturing Of Fingers After Attack Of Vertigo?
I recently had a vertigo attack that included for the first time, my fingers posturing. They were curling under tightly and I couldn't stop them. It would do it every time the blood pressure cuff would tighten on my arm. No one has any answers for me. Any idea about the posturing?
The curling of fingers during attack of vertigo as well during tightening of blood pressure cuff on arm is known as Trousseau sign. It is an indication of low calcium level in the blood (Hypocalcemia). Investigation like estimation serum calcium level will be helpful in confirming the diagnosis. Subsequently, management will involve intake of calcium supplements for optimization of the levels. Regarding the complaints of vertigo, kindly consult an ENT specialist for proper clinical evaluation including vestibular function test.
There is no need to worry, you will be fine. Take care.
