What Causes Pounding Of Heart While On Gatorade For Osteoarthritis?
Hi. I have been getting leg cramps increasing in severity and occurance for several years.I have been prescribed quinine with little relief. I have also developed osteoarthritis for which I take high doses of calcium, vitamine d and magnesium, which should also relief cramping but does not. Today I read that it could be an electrolyte imbalance so I tried a bottle of gatorade. Normally I drink water as I finf these beverages to be sickenly sweet. Within I hour my heart began to pound and I became shakey. Why would that happen? Is that a normal reaction?
Based on the history you have shared, you have tachycardia that it presented as palpitations secondary to the beverage you took plus the quinine you are taking. All these combine can make the rhythm of heart irregular. You need to get EKG immediately and if its normal then get your electrolytes checked including sodium, potassium and calcium.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
