Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pregnancy Symptoms After Taking Norethisterone?
I was given northisterone end of January due to having irregular periods to try and help correct the hormones in my body from the depo injection over a year ago, now all month I have had pregnancy symptoms but I really don't want to see a negative test so I am putting off testing would there be any chance I can be pregnant
Northisterone is a kind of the hormone called progesterone, which is similar to the kind of hormone produced by your body from being pregnant.
However, northisterone alone does not prevent pregnancy, so if you are having unprotected intercourse, you do have a risk of pregnancy.
So there is no way to tell based on your symptoms whether or not you are pregnant because the hormone you were taking could also cause similar symptoms. But if you are having unprotected intercourse, you do have a chance of getting pregnant.
I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that this information was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
