What Causes Premenopausal Vaginal Bleeding?

i am 48 years old and premenopausal. I have been bleeding for about 4 weeks. Not super heavy, I go through about 2-3 pantyliners a day. All I want to know is if I should be worried or alarmed. I am not cramping, and am not uncomfortable. It s just very annoying.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello!
Unexplained or prolonged bleeding is commonly seen in perimenopausal or premenopausal women due to the various hormonal changes that occur in the body. It is advisable to get an ultrasound scan of the abdomen and a per vaginal examination by the gynecologist just to make sure we are not missing anything. Also, prolonged bleeding may result in low levels of hemoglobin and is advisable to eat foods rich in iron like iron fortified cereals, oats, spinach and other green leafy vegetables, vitamin c rich fruits like orange, lime, kiwi, mosambi as they help absorption of iron, eggs and meat like chicken/ lamb would be helpful. Please get back anytime in case of further queries!
