What Causes Pressure And Swelling In The Penis After Urination?

Hello, I have had a problem with hemorrhoids for about a month. They are internal(right inside the anus), and also out. My Md. prescribed hydrocortisone cream and suppositories, but the suppositories are so small they just slip thru the anus into the intestine causing gastrointestinal issue the next day. The only thing that seems to help (but does not cure) the issues are sitz baths and applying hot compress to the external hemmohoids. I have been urinating 1-2x per night since the flair up, and yesterday it started a feeling of pressure/swelling in the penis after urination...and an general not feeling well after. I am fairly certain it isn t a kidney or bladder issue because I am urinating a normal or full amount, no blood etc. in urine.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

These symptoms are suggestive of uroinfection and this is common in your age and usually is manifested with pain during urination, fever and changes in urination frequency. Also, blood traces may be present in urine which can have odour or colour change. Other common cause are urinary stones. Diagnosis is established by doing urine analysis and urinoculture and after this antibiotic treatment may be started if necessary. If there is negative urine analysis then you should do ultrasound of kidneys to check for stones. You should drink plenty of fluids and take raspberry tea or juice to promote urination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
