What Causes Pressure Build Up In Chest And Pain Below Shoulder Blade?

I have pressure build up in my chest.it hurts below my left shoulder blade and in my chest. It gets so intense I salivate and try to vomit at times. It will go away and do the same thing a few minutes later. No heartburn or anything just extreme pain and hurting. I can t vomit but sometimes spit up a white foam. I have had the attacks before and usually at night. This one started this morning and has lasted all day.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
The symptoms described by you suggests that heart attack. In this case, I suggest you do ECG, Echocardiogram and lipid profile test. Control your blood pressure by taking antihypertensive medication. I recommend you follow those instructions for preventing heart attack in further:
- Stop smoking
- Lower your cholesterol
- Control your diabetes and blood pressure
- Follow an exercise plan
- Keep a healthy body weight
- Control stress
I suggest that consult with a cardiologist.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
