What Causes Pressure Feeling In The Throat After Drinking Water?

I frequently choke while eating dinner. It usually happens when I am drinking my water. I can feel it happening before it actually happens but it s too late because the water stays trapped in my throat. Then it feels like I have severe pressure in my throat and then my throat makes a gurgling sound like when a clogged drain finally clears and then the water goes down painfully. It happens quite frequently.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain in throat could be due to acute pharyngitis like inflammation.

The decongestant can be prescribed for that.

However frequent choking while eating food cannot be considered normal.
You need to investigate with endoscopy and posterior pharynx examination for primary work up.

Kindly consult nearby physician for detailed evaluation.

Hope this will help you.
