What Causes Pressure In Chest And Upper Back When Starting Workouts?
Hi. I run/walk all the time for weight control....but often, at the start of my workout, I feel pressure in my chest and upper back. This also happens after meal and I go for walk. The pain goes away if I just continue with my workout. heart check shows no blockage or sign of heart attack but I am concern. Any advice on what this could be?
With exertion exacerbation of these symptoms needs cardiac work up. The one you mentioned, if it included only EKG or echocardiogram and if unremarkable, exercise tolerance test as well as stress echo may be needed. If those are normal, then chest X-ray and pulmonary function tests to rule out lung causes should be done. Otherwise muscular causes should be considered in last after exclusion of heart and lung diseases possibilities. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can be helpful for symptomatic relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
