Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pressure In Lungs, Cough And Difficulty In Breathing?
I started having a pressure in my lungs about 5 or 6 weeks ago. It turned into a pretty good cough lasting about 3 weeks. I still have a little pressure and especially when deeply laughing I still cough and the feel the pressure. In truth I have had a cough to some degree for two years when deeply laughing as I got a cough two years ago which was totally gone and not a problem even at the gym but when deeply laughing it flares up almost as if the lung never got truly clear and now it is again. I went to the gym today and all OK except I still feel that slight difficulty breathing and pressure in lung. O2 tested @ 98% this morning (pulse ox) If I wanted to pay the copayment I would go see a doctor personally thank you
I would like to rule out if you are smoker or not. Furthermore, If you have any history of allergy or asthma and your occupation. I would advise you to undergo pulmonary function test (PFT) and chest X-ray to make sure that its not obstructive pulmonary disease. Does your cough have foul smelling and is it productive? If it is productive then what is the quantity and color of the cough?
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Abdul Hamid Mavli, General & Family Physician
