What Causes Pressure In The Chest Along With Palpitations?

I have pressure in my chest and sometimes I can feel my heart pounding in my chest for a few seconds. At time the pressure builds up in the front of my neck as well and causes a throbbing in my head. I have had an ECG done and had a blood test to check my heart. All test came back good. The doctor had me try Adivan for 5 days to see if it is an anxiety issue. After about 2 days the meds seemed to help with the pressure but after two days of not taking the pills all my symptoms came back. I don t feel overly anxious or stressed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Anxiety can cause physical symptoms like pain, a pounding heart or stomach cramps. For some, these physical symptoms are the main concern.

I suggest You continue the medication and meanwhile have a consult with your psychiatrist to determine the diagnosis.

Also, avoid triggers such as stress, caffeine, sleep well and have physical activity.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suzana Zharri, General & Family Physician
