What Causes Pressure In The Chest Along With Palpitations?

I m 57 (female, 5 5 , about 140#) and verging on high blood pressure ... usually about 140/90 with 90 pulse rate (not on any meds) ... should I be worried? Heart disease runs in my family. Lately I ve been feeling a heaviness in my chest and sometimes feel like my heart is beating too hard and too loud when I go to bed at night.

Hello madam,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
I can certainly understand your concern
I have worked through your query in detail.

As you have mentioned that you are not taking any medications for your high blood pressure, with a strong family history it would be definitely advisable to start on medication as your diastolic pressure is 90, which is an alarm sign.

so I would advise you to start on atenolol tablet, start with initial minimal dose , avoid salt and spicy foods, avoid stress, try to avoid fatty foods and be careful about oil consumption as it may have bad effects on heart.

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these medications to you.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you
