What Causes Pressure In The Ears After Using Ciprodex Ear Drops?
I have been using ciprodex ear drops for about 3 days. The drops are causing a great deal of pressure in my ear, very similar to a block ear from a cold. Is this normal, I am feeling rather anxious and I am considering discontinuing the drops. My condition was swimmers ear.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Ciprodex ear drops have an antibiotic &anti inflammatory effect on the eardrum.
It is not known to cause a side effect as you experience. I.e. pressure on the eardrum.
Maybe that there is some exudate from the inflamed drum/there is perforation of eardrum, giving you the feeling.
In such a scenario. I would suggest to Withheld the drops & report to your treating ENT specialist for further instructions.
You may be advised to start with oral medicines along with the drops.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
