What Causes Pressure In The Ears When Diagnosed With Middle Ear Infection?
I ve had fluid in my right ear for two months. Urgent Care gave me Neomycin drops but didn t help. My ENT prescribed dymista, which didn t help, then 5 days of steroid. Still have pressure in my ear and muffled hearing. He said next step is to put a tube in and drain. Your opinion please. Wouldn t antibiotic help?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pressure in the ears when diagnosed with middle ear infection which is due to disturbance in eustachian tube pressure as it maintains equilibrium between both connecting organs and their cavities and along with that accumulation of wax and fluids in ear could be contributing factor.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take proper course of antibiotics and maintain ear cleanness and don't prick it with any sharp object. Avoid blowing hard as it can lead to fall of mucus in throat and further infection. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Start treatment after proper examination like complete blood count and otoscopic ear examination to find out exact diagnosis. Apply warm compresses on ear.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
