Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pressure In The Head And Chest When Diagnosed With Hypertension?
I am 48 years old, female, I recently was diagnosed with high blood pressure just last week. I m now on lisinopril 20 mg and Lipitor for cholesterol. I had a normal ekg last week with the exception of inverted t waves. Blood work was all good except for my cholesterol. I am feeling much better than I did last week, but today I often feel pressure in my head and chest. I wouldn t call it pain and it s not very uncomfortable but I do feel it. My blood pressure today has been fine. I just feel off... my question is, should I request a consult with a cardiologist? Or am I being paranoid...I ve been seeing my general practitioner. What would cause these feelings?
I think it’s a fine thing, as you are already on medication and if your blood pressure is also normal then no need to worry. Pressure in the chest may be due to some other reasons.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
