What Causes Pressure In The Head And Fatigue After Waking Up?

I wake up with a headache with head pressure, feel fatigue and want to lay down. This will go on for about eight hours and then I feel refreshed. I have sleep apnea, diabetes 2 and depression. I believe it s an interaction with my medication, melatonin 10 mg and lorazepam 1 mg.

Hello,

Yes, Melatonin has strong interaction with any sedatives including lorazepam. Melatonin also has moderate interaction with anti-diabetic medication.
I suggest you to stop melatonin, as it will increase your problem.
For sleep apnea, weight loss is a good advice if you are fatty enough.
If more sleep apnea, CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) device can be prescribed. Other surgical methods still present if it is more severe.
There are may anti depressants like sertraline hydrochloride or bupropion.
Among all the problems, now, sleep apnea has to take care of. Stop melatonin and may be the different drug has to be used for sleep apnea.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
