Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve never had a urine infection before but yesterday evening I had a few drinks with friends and I ve been feeling hungover today which had resulted in me vomiting and dry heeving, I ve started to feel myself again but just a few hours ago I have been feeling a lot of pressure in my viginal area almost as if something needs to come out, I ve been on the toilet and only peeing a little, I m not sure if I ve caught a uti and could that possibly have made me feel sick throughout the day as it has been building up. I think maybe some sleep with help but I m so uncomfortable I feel like I can t lie down. Do I need to see a doctor about this?
Alcoholic drinks can irritate uro-genital pathways. This explains the pressure feeling in your vaginal area while peeing a little.
I advise to run an urine analysis. You can purchase a home urine test at your local drug store and run the test at home and see the result. If positive for urinary tract infection (UTI), should see your doctor as prescription meds might be required.
Meanwhile, for the moment, I advise to: - increase water intake - take cranberry supplements to optimize pH of the urine - keep good genital hygiene - take probiotics - avoid urinary irritants/stimulants like caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods, etc.
Wish fast recovery.
