My husband has had pressure on the top of his head for a week. It becomes stronger when he uses his arms or upper body, but not when he stands using his legs. bending over is quite painful, as is lifting anything. He felt this come on last week after lifting something heavy, and then using his arms to bend some thick metal. (he is a metal artist) His blood pressure seems normal, with his heart beating normally.
Thank you for asking on HCM! I appreciate your concern!
His symptoms seem to be caused by a contraction of the head muscles causing tension type headache. There is nothing to worry about. It can by caused by physical and psychological stress.
I recommend you to consult him with a neurologist for a careful physical examination and to perform a routine blood test. A sinus Xray may be necessary to exclude a possible sinusitis (not related to the heavy lifting).
Hope to have been helpful!
Greetings! Dr. Aida
