Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pressure While Urinating With Bleeding After Hysterectomy?
I had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and about a week later I was having a lot of pressure when urinating and bleeding. I called the Dr office and they said it was normal. It happened again a week later. Found out I have blood in urine and with further testing e coli was in there!!!!!! How did that happen?
Discomfort while passing urine, presence of blood cells in urine and E coli in urine culture- all are indicative of urine infection / UTI (although you have not mentioned the amount of E coli in urine). This needs antibiotic treatment. If I were your treating doctor, I would have given antibiotics like cefixime for 7 days. Kindly discuss with your doctor.
How this happened, we cannot be sure, but, urinary catheterisation during surgery is a risk factor. Anyhow, UTI is a common thing that can occur without any reason too, and we need not worry unless it is recurrent.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
