What Causes Pricking Sensation On Calf When Suffering From Gestational Diabetes?

I experience pin prick on my left calf past 2 days which last for seconds but repeatedly in few hours. Im 36 at 72kg 1.6m. Ever diagnoised for gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. But fully recovered since. Now the pricking feeling is causing concern. Please advise. GP says nothing serious just a nerve.
