What Causes Primary Cold Agglutinin Disease?

My wife has primary cold agglutinin disease and we need to find a blood testing lab to do her ordinary blood work in the Asheville NC area. Most labs are unfamiliar with the challenge that the blood cannot be chilled. Any help in locating such a lab or knowledgeable physician regarding this would be most appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Primary cold agglutination disease is an autoimmune hemolytic anemia in which body's own immune system is directed towards red blood cells and destroys it. It is detected by a test called Coombs' test. You can review with a Pathologist for carrying out the test and also consult a General Physician for further treatment. They would be able to guide you to a lab near your location.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
