Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter was infected with cryptosporiduim(sp) from a water park when she was 9. She is now 18 and has been having stomach issues for quite some time, now thinking about it , ever since. She has tried giving up dairy, gluten, eating more fiber, everything the doctor has asked her to try. Is it possible it is a result from her being infected when she was 9 years old? She has a another Dr. appt. this week to discuss this.
Firstly I share your concerns. There are several possibilities like stomach, intestines, liver, uterus, UTI which cause abdominal issues.
As a practising doctor, I don't think that the current problem of your daughter is related to the infections in childhood. The current issues are fresh ones. You have mentioned stomach issues, it is a vague term , so very difficult to think about possible cause. But it is unlikely to related with the childhood infections.
You take her to doctor and under go detailed examination and investigation to come to a diagnosis.
I hope my reply will allay your concerns. Please write for subsequent questions. Kindly hit a thanks. I wish good health to you and your family.
