What Causes Productive Cough Along With Vomiting In An Infant?

1 month old infant, has been coughing for 3 days, clear mucous, vomited this morning. No fever. Went to urgent care today, lungs are clear. Has had rash on face for 2 weeks which Dr confirmed is infant acne. This afternoon rash looks different; instead of individual red pimples, cheeks look flushed and redness looks more spread out. Has wet diapers, bowels have been watery. Baby has been sleeping all day, which is very unusual. He will awaken when roused, is nursing, but immediately goes back to sleep.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of productive cough along with vomiting in an infant. which is due to upper respiratory tract infection leading to bronchitis/ granular pharyngitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and antiinflammatory medications. You should use nebulizer . Your symptoms will resolve in 1 week. if symptoms keeps on persisting you should consult pediatrician and take proper treatment. You should get X-ray chest done along with pulmonary function tests. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) at least for 5 days along with decongestant.
