What Causes Profuse Sweating, Loss Of Fine Motor Skills With Elevated Sugar Levels?
So today my dad woke up sweating profusely...he showed a lack of coordination and he was very restless mentally....after the general practioner came and visited him...he is better now motor coordination is good however there is still some loss of fine movements of the left arm....his blood sugar level was 270mg/dl..has DM...what is the probable diagnosis?
Sometimes in diabetics, if the blood sugar level remains high for a long time, then it can cause damage to nerves. Due to this damage of nerves to sweat glands, sometimes these nerves lose their control on sweat glands and remain constantly switched on and causes continuous sweating resulting in hyperhidrosis. Similarly the damage to nerves of limbs, there may be a loss of fine motor skill also. This type of motor loss may be temporary, but some times progressive also, if the level of sugar remains high for a long time.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
