Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Profuse Sweating Post A Rotator Cuff Surgery?
I will be going to my cardiologist on Friday to see if he can figure out what is wrong. Exactly 5 weeks ago I had rotator cuff surgery. pain block for 5 days. Took no meds after that. The shoulder is getting along fine but before and during surgery I broke out in a sweat. They did ekg, etc. finally did surgery. Ever since I have been light headed and break out in sweats several times a week. Any possible ideas what it could be? I did have a stent in my top right artery about 12 years ago. Weight, cholesterol, triglycerides are all fine. I just turned 60. male.
Episodic sweating with spontaneous resolution could be due to undiagnosed Pheochromocytoma, in which attacks of sweating palpitation, tachycardia can be precipitated by surgery/General anesthesia. You can go for either Single voided (spot) urinary metanephrine or 24 hours urine test for total metanephrine (this is the most reliable screening test).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas, Internal Medicine Specialist
