What Causes Profuse Sweating With Little Exertion While On Amitriptyline?

I m taking a new medication (to me)…amitriptyline-1-25 mg. tablet at night to help with sleep. While it has really helped me I m not liking the side affect. I have always perspired easily upon exercising, but since I started the medication, I ve been sweating profusely with very little exertion. Is there anything that I can do to ease that problem other than more medications? Thanks, Terry Wiederhold

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the excess perspiration is in relation to the side effect of Amitryptiline medicine. There is no additional medication to cop up with the issue. The only thing to help is dose reduction of Amitryptiline or change of the medicine to other molecule.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
