What Causes Progressive Sharp Pain On Left Foot?

Hi. My name is Jeanna, and I went running at my university s gym two days ago. Shortly after I left for the day, I felt a sharp pain on the outside of my left foot. I have class from 8 to 5, and a lot of that includes across campus treks. It wasn t too bad the first day until about dinner time, when the pain became excruciating. I got up early this morning to go to our campus health center, but I found out they re closed Friday through the weekend. The pain has gotten increasingly worse, and I ve stayed far from the gym, however I m scared that walking from class to class may have aggravated it. It s tear jerking to stand for too long at this point. The best I can tell from foot anatomical pictures, the pain is concentrated in the cuboid region. I hope this was enough information to give you a feel of what may be happening. Thank you for you time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Jeanna, sorry to hear about the problem. The reason might be:
1. Stress fracture.
2. Ligament sprain.
Apply ice pack and give rest. Take diclofenac composition pain killer.
In case pain doesn't subside by 24 hours, get an x-ray foot done AP and Lateral view. Visit Orthopedician and seek help for proper management.
Get well soon.
