What Causes Prolonged Absence Of Periods?

Hi, its been awhile since I ve had a period, over 6 months. A doctor said it could be caused by my weight gain. I went out of town and two days ago and when using the rest room I found pink/red discharge when wiping. I only see it when I wipe though. Could I be pregnant or is my period trying to come on after all this time?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Having absence of periods for 6 months is enough reason to visit doctor. There is no reason like weight gain which can make this delay. You should do a pregnancy home test. The spotting is not a characteristic sign of pregnancy but this absence of periods for so long can be. Please visit a gynecologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
