What Causes Prolonged And Heavy Periods Despite Myomectomy?

I recently had a myomectomy about 5-6 weeks ago and I just started my first period since the operation. It is very heavy, just like it was before the surgery. Is this normal at first ? I was hoping I wouldn t have to deal with these heavy, prolonged periods anymore after going through surgery :(

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your symptom of heavy vaginal bleeding following previous myomectomy I am suggesting the following causes :

Hormonal inbalance
Endometriosis/emdometritis
Adenomyosis
Coagulopathy
Rupture uterus/bleeding vessels
Infection
In view of this you need to see your gynecologist to explore your uterus and other clinical assessment please do the following test :

Abdominal scan
Full blood count
Coagulation profile test

Meanwhile take duphaston tablet injection vitamin K tablet ergomentrine
I hope this helps

I find this answer helpful
