What Causes Prolonged Delay In Periods Despite Taking Contraceptive Pills?
I have not had a period for 3 months. I am a virgin but was on birth control when I started college. I went on vaca with my family for a week and forgot to take my pill with me. Now I m weak with nausea. I have spotted some, but no period. Could something serious be wrong?
Since you are a virgin & sexually not active, delayed period commonly occurs due to anemia(you are also feeling weak). The other causes are:
1. Hypothyroidism, hormonal problems, genetics, disorders of the pituitary, hypothalamus, ovaries & uterus.
2. Visit ER, get physically examined by a gynae, get all blood tests, urinalysis & imaging test (CT, MRI), HSG, test to determine the prolactin levels done; to detect the cause of your discomfort. You may need HRT.
3. In the meantime, avoid addictions (cigarettes, alcohol, smoking), stay away from stress, do regular exercise & maintain healthy weight.
Take nutritious food rich in iron, calcium & minerals. Take adequate sleep & stay well hydrated.
