Diplopia (double vision) can be related to various disorders so whether it's dangerous or harmful depends on the underlying cause.
Be warned though that sometimes the underlying cause is a serious one like a stroke, an aneurysm or multiple sclerosis. Therefore you'd better be appropriately investigated.
An ophthalmologist and a neurologist are the specialists you should consult initially.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
