What Causes Prolonged Fever And Inflammation Of The Joints In An Infant?

My 18 month old son had a fever for over three weeks that was continuous and could not be explained through extensive blood work. The fever did go away but is now happening once a day the same time between 4:30-6:30pm. He has also had a rash that began last summer and went away in the winter only to come back again this spring that was also continuous for the same three weeks as the fever and is now following the same pattern as the fever. Doctors could not find the reason for this either. The only thing they do find occurring is inflammation of the joints which arthritis has been ruled out. What could some of the causes to all of this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It would be best for him to see a rheumatologist and also consider a hemotologist to see if the cause for the recurrent symptoms. Fever tends to recur at night because this is the time that the immune system activity is higher. He would need to be reassessed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
