Hi,
Fever is the symptom mainly of either respiratory, gastrointestinal, or urogenital system infections. It may also due to skin infections involving the
lymphatic system.
Ear infection also causes fever. The treatment has two steps. First the symptomatic treatment and cause specific treatment. Since fever induce
dehydration more quickly in children, anti-pyretics such as
paracetamol along with plenty of oral fluids in necessary. Paracetamol is prescribed in the dosage of 15mg per kg in children.
High grade fever for the first two to three days signifies commonly viral infection. Depends on the viral agent, treatment involves supportive up to active management. In case of bacterial infection, antibiotics are advised. Blood and urine investigation helps very to narrow down the diagnosis. Consult the
pediatrician and discuss the need for investigations, since your child has fever for three days. If the child gets improving with otogenic drops, wait for two more days.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
