Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Prolonged Lower Back Pain And Numbness In The Leg?
i have been experiencing lower back pain for 4 weeks now, i have tingling and numbness in my leg and foot and i often get chills. my neck is usually stiff and often cracks. it hurts to sit or stand and excercise hurts too. i feel like it could be getting worse please help.
I will advise taking an MRI of the lumbar spine. Post that we can say that is it worsening or not. Also, the MRI will help see the tissues inside the lumbar spine.
What symptoms you are facing are due to nerve root entrapment. Due to which there will be Radicular pain.
Taking bed rest with a pillow below the knees is advised. Post that using hot water fermentation to relax the spasmodic muscles of the lumbar spine.
Try taking the McKenzie maneuver position. Find the details online. Once the pain is centralised then use hot water fermentation again. This will reduce the radiating pain and reduce the pain.
Post the pain level comes down doing core stability exercise, spinal muscle strengthening exercises, hip muscle strengthening exercises, lower limb strengthening exercises.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
