Hello,

You have been having vaginal bleeding for 17 days. You can also see blood clots passing with the bleeding. You do not have any abdominal cramps. Heavy bleeding commonly occur due to hormonal imbalances, pelvic inflammatory infection, obesity, polyp, fibroid, endometriosis, blood clotting disorder, drastic lifestyle changes, etc. You are suggested to get T3, T4, TSH done to detect thyroid problem. You will be treated accordingly. Get clinically examined by an OBGYN, to detect PID, fibroids, polyp, etc. You will have to get few blood tests and investigations done for further management and treatment.

In the meantime, you can take a course of Norethisterone, Regestrone (10mg). Take Uterine tonics and food rich in protein, iron and minerals. You can also take iron supplements to compensate for the blood loss (anemia). Take vitamin C in its natural form and stay well hydrated. Stay away from addictions if any. Avoid food with processed sugar. Do not stress and take quality sleep. You have not mentioned if you are sexually active. Miscarriage may also present with such symptoms. Get treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
