What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding Along With Lower Abdominal Pain?

I have been on amethyst for 3 and half years and have not had a active menstration which I know I normal with that birth control. My concern is that after 3 and half years of not having one I have been actively menstruating for 12 days. It is getting worse every day not better and I am having a lot of pain in my left overy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this-

1)Do few tests like [CBC, TSH and Ultrasound]to know exact pathological causes.

2)Discuss with your doctor about [Tranexamic acid]to control bleeding and if pain then OTC medication [ibuprofen]can be tried.

3)You can talk about [Oral progesterone] or [hormonal IUD] if it is due to imbalance of hormone, if already taking it then talk about change or stop it.

4)Do take iron supplements regularly

Do moderate exercise of 30 minutes 5 times per week is recommended. Light exercises like swimming, walking or jogging can make your periods shorter and lighter.

Hope that helps
