I didn t have period for two months and then this month when the period started, it is not stopping for more than 10 days. Doctor prescribed me Pause-500 as this is the first time this has happened (menstrual cycle was very normal so far), my age is 38 years and I am single. Now after taking the pause tablets for two days - the bleeding is still continuing to some extent - is this normal? Should I continue Pause-500 or will it lead to further issues? I am concerned after reading about many of the causes of this, but this is first time the cycle has been irregular for me.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Prolonged heavy bleeding after a period of amenorrhea is most likely due to the hormonal disturbance in the perimenopausal age group. I will suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist and get a transvaginal ultrasound done to confirm the diagnosis. Endometrial biopsy may be required to confirm the diagnosis.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
