My last period started on Aug 30th and lasted till the 31st. So barely two days. This month my period was supposed to arrive Sept. 26th. Instead it came on the 30th. Its now Oct. 9th and I m still bleeding. My fiance and I have regular sex. Not sure if I should be worried or if I m just having a strange cycle.
Prolonged menstruation can be due to hormonal or ovulation changes, thyroid issues, polyps, fibroid, endometriosis, obesity, PID or cancer. You are suggested to get clinically examined & assessed. Get blood tests, pap tests, endometrial biopsy, USG & if required hysteroscopy done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. You may need oral progesterone, tranexamic acid or NSAIDS. Sometimes, minor or major surgery may be required to treat the factor causing the menstrual irregularities.
