I have been having lower back pain (right side) and upset stomach for a few weeks now. I am having a hard time sleeping at night when I lay down I get pain in my chest and the feeling of full and need to burp. Is there something I can do to prevent this ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

This could quite possible be a gastric issue requiring medical attention. Until you can visit your doctor please go about the following: avoid fatty food, avoid carbonated drinks, avoid spicy food, avoid smoking, avoid alcohol, avoid stress, avoid oily/fried food, drink plenty of water, avoid long gaps between meals, eat 5-6 smaller meals instead of 2-3 larger ones, do not overeat, and try to finish your last meal for the day at least 90-120 minutes before bed time.

Best wishes.
