What Causes Prolonged Pain In The Lower Back?

My S.O has lower back pain related to a muscle spasm that has been bothering her for two years. She had an injection recently that helped with the pain(cortisone, I think?), but it wasnt a permanent fix. She does yoga every morning to try to combat the problem but it has limited success. Does a muscle spasm go on for this long? Or is it something else entirely?

Hi dear and thanks for your query.
A back muscle strain or ligament strain is one of the most common causes of acute lower back pain. Lifting a heavy object, twisting, or a sudden movement can cause muscles or ligaments stretch or develop microscopic tears.
Two years are a long period and it is not usuall for a muscle spasm to last so much. To define the cause of pain it is necesery to do an MRI.
