What Causes Prolonged Periods Along With Depression And Anxiety?

Plz help been on depo shot 3 months i have not stop period a im a very heavy bleeder now never was IM NOT ME AT ALL any more im so angry depressed. Lots axity sad all time i have always loved beeg around kids had weve had family own daycare now i feel like a failer mistake and more i got a suporting husband but hes taking my mood swing rough he just tells me my hormones are wacked

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The 3 month shot contains progesterone, which is a female hormone and it can cause a depressing effect and irregular bleeding, so it seems you are having side effects of the injection. Unfortunately there is no treatment to reverse its effect and you will experience these till the effect of the injection wares off. Meanwhile please see your doctor to have a CBC test to rule out anemia because of the prolonged heavy bleeding you have had. If it is already 3 months from the injections and you are still depressed or have irregular bleeding you will need to have a check. Having TSH to rule out problems with thyroid is important and also having a gynecological visit to rule out other gynecological conditions that might cause irregular bleeding.
