What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding After Medical Abortion?
Hello ma am/sir,my fiancée had a medical abortion & it was successful, afterward 1week she was still bleeding heavily & we went for a scan at luth. They didn t see anything after the scan but now she s still bleeding and she wants to opt for a vacuum aspiration. Please it is advisable to do that and would that minimise the bleeding ?
Hi I think you can go for a vacuum aspiration as there can be some retained products of conception. Generally it becomes evident on ultrasound, but if she is bleeding and ultrasound is normal, she can take some medicines like tranexamic acid 500mg 3 times per day for 3 to 5 days to stop the bleeding .If bleeding doesn't stop in 3 to 5 days, she can opt for aspiration. Hope it helps.
