What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Aubra Birth Control Pill?

I wa son birth control for a while but I stopped for one month. I recently started taking birth control again, this time using the pill called Aubra, and now my period hasn t stopped. I am on day 14 of my period now and I usually only last about 4-5 days. Is it because of the pill? Should I go see a doctor? When should I expect the bleeding to stop? I m afraid to go to a doctor because my parents are not aware that I am on the pill and going to the doctor, they will find out that I am. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Though pill can cause hormonal imbalance and irregular bleeding but lasting for 14 days non stop needs work up with coagulation profile, platelets counts and ultrasound pelvis may be needed. Gynecologist review should be sought, and Tranexamic acid may be taken.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
