What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding After Tubal Ligation?
Hi I had my tubes tied over a year ago. But I haven t been having a period at all. Except once in October which it lasted for two weeks. And then now. I ve been bleeding for 3 weeks straight. Bright red and blood clots and bad stomach pains. Is this normal?
No, the tying of your tubes should not have caused a long delay in your periods. Delayed period can sometimes occur due to physical trauma, for example, period but it would not normally last for that length of time, though this can vary from one person to the next.
In terms of the excess bleeding now, it may not be due to a serious or life threatening cause. More common reasons are fibroids, endometriosis, and abnormal hormones levels. It would be best to be assessed by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
