What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding Post Child Delivery?

Hi,You may call me Dany, I gave birth on 5/16/2015 and the bleeding became less around 8 weeks but it still hasn t stopped now at 9/29/2015. Also I am getting a cone biopsy for cervical cancer. So I was worried that the bleeding was connected to cancer in some way??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The prolonged vaginal bleed post child delivery can be concern of hormone imbalance in majority of the cases. However, many times a biopsy is mandatory to rule out any atypical cervical changes or dysplasia in situ responsible for heavy bleed. Please do not panic and wait till the biopsy report turns out with results.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
