What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding While On Nexplanon Implant?

I had the nexpolan implant last October and have been bleeding for the last couple months so I went to the doctor and she put me on the pills. I was just wondering if by taking both, will they will counteract and raise my risk of getting pregnant if something does happen?

Hello,

The implant you are having contains a hormone in the group with progesterone and progesterone based contraception has the risk for irregular and heavy bleeding.
Your doctor has given oral pills probably to balance the effects of the progesterone, the pill might contain estrogen or estrogen with progesteron to help not let the effects of progesteron unbalanced.
This should not increase the risk for pregnancy but it is not sure it will help good enough with the bleeding. If you notice no improvement with the oral pill then you will have to talk to your doctor again.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
