What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding With Large Blood Clots Despite Taking Provera?
I had a baby 15 weeks ago. My bleeding completely stopped after having the baby within 2 weeks. I got my period again when my baby was about 7 weeks. When my baby was about 8 weeks I got the iud. I bled constantly and about a week ago my doctor put me on Provera to try and stop my bleeding. I am now beginning to get blood clots. They are much smaller then the blood clots I used to get with my period before I was pregnant but they are like marbled red and white. I was just curious as to why this might be?
Hello, Thanks for posting your query. I have gone through it and understood your concern. Blood clots are formed during a period when the blood stays for a longer time in the vagina before being expelled. The appearance of the clots is perhaps so because of endometrial tissue being expelled in casts. If you continue to bleed with the IUD even after progesterone, you may need to think of an alternative approach. Bleeding can be heavy while lactating owing to hormone imbalance and also soon after delivery as the uterus is larger than normal in size. Styptics also can help to reduce the bleeding. Hope this helps.
