What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Spotting And Cramping While On Letrozole?
I took letrozole on day 3 of my period for 5 days. 3 days after my period suppose to end im still spotting and cramping. Is this normal. I do have irregular periods and initially took provera to bring it on. Should i contact my doctor or will the spotting eventually stop to try and conceive?
* As per my clinical experience, the Femara ( Letrozole ) is a very well known anti estrogen drug used for cancer breast patients , usually post menopausal period.
* Usually the patient is having ERPR positive breast lesion for whom this therapy is prescribed, and as there is anti estrogen drug, there can be alterations at Hypothalmus pituitary axis.
* The bleeding uterus is a major threat of use of Letrozole and this period is not ideal for making conceive issue positively. However, kindly discuss the issue with your doc regarding the same.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
