What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Spotting Post An Intercourse?
Ok I m kindof embarrassed asking this but a week and half ago I lost my virginity. We did not use protection and I am not on birth control but he pulled out. My period was a week late already so I wasn t worried about getting pregnant. I spotted for a few days after then started my period. I am 29 and my periods always follow the same pattern. This time it was bright red blood and I only bled heavily for a day and a half. I have been spotting red blood since. This isn t normal for me at all. What I m wondering is if that s expected for a period following first time sex. i can t just go see a doctor anonymously or go to the grocery store and buy a pregnancy test. I live in a small community and come from a large and well known conservative family so I want there to be a genuine worry before I do anything like that.
Hello, First, the pulling out method is not very effective, pregnancy can still occur. The fertile time is about two weeks after the first day of your last period. You can have some spotting after sex for the first time due to rupture of the hymen but it should not totally disrupt your menstrual cycle. If you had sex near your fertile time then you definitely need to find a way to get a pregnancy test done. Regards, Dr. Robinson
