Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I noticed that I got a new freckle/mole on my breast about a year ago I think. It s getting darker, ever so slightly raised and it s a bit prickly to touch. It hasn t seemed to change size at all and it s quite small. Is it just a new ish mole thats normal or should I see a skin specialist.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have prominent prickly mole on the breast . Well moles occur when cells in the skin grow in a cluster instead of being spread throughout the skin. These cells are called melanocytes, and they make the pigment that gives skin its natural color. Moles might darken after exposure to the sun, during the teen years, and during pregnancy. If you notice changes ( as you mention in query ) in a mole's color, height, size, or shape, you should have a dermatologist (skin doctor) evaluate it. You also should have moles checked if they bleed, ooze, itch, appear scaly, or become tender or painful. Doctor will examine carefully to differentiate it from skin tag. Doctor may order biopsy test and mammogram to rule out cancerous condition . Doctor may remove it surgically under local anesthesia or recommend radiotherapy .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
